"My personal beliefs include Honesty, Integrity and Respect"
Growing up in the juvenile justice system changed my life forever and I have been determined to break barriers since my release!
In June 2023, a monumental change has occurred in the California juvenile justice system. My story not only provides hope to those that have been impacted by marginalization but also those who strive to overcome adversity. Si se puede!
In June 2023, I had the opportunity of educating firms on the value of hiring those with a record by providing a second chance, and employing a highly qualified employee with unique skills including adaptability, resilience, and motivation.
It was a pleasure to be a panel speaker at the summit of minds conference to emphasize the need to offer those less fortunate a second chance!
During my incarceration, I started to realize that the community needed to get involved in order to impact change.
How do alumni serve? "My mission is to help young kids break barriers, and change the perception of juvenile criminality"
Persistence, resilience and intellectual curiosity! I was told "95% of you will end up in prison"
For years, Martha Troncoza had a recurring dream of being sent to jail but never getting an answer when she asked about her court or release dates. After she began hosting workshops for incarcerated women—teaching them everything from healthy living and wellness techniques to how to dress for job interviews—her dream changed. She was finally released.
Young Women Breaking Barriers is the eight week workshop I host to change behaviors, attitudes and self perception about oneself.
"Giving Back Beats Going on a Cruise" By Carmen Cusido, Hispanic Executive
I have learned to talk about my journey in life by sharing how I made it from getting released from a juvenile prison at 20 years old with nothing but the clothes I was wearing to becoming educated and a millionaire in my 40's. I have left a high paying job to concentrate on academia and youth justice as teaching and mentoring are my passion and life journey.
Being told "95% of you will go to prison and 5% of you will survive" has given me the motivation to break barriers and become who I am today. It is my mission to help our youth by forgiving, telling them how I made it and treating them with dignity.
